Program Directors 

ACOS program directors are the most integral piece in the training of osteopathic surgeons.  The program director must be academically and professionally qualified, maintain professional expertise appropriate to their educational and clinical responsibilities and be engaged in the active practice of surgery. The program director must demonstrate active participation in the following educational activities:

  • Appropriate resident supervision and instruction in the operating room, at the bedside, and in ambulatory setting
  • Participation and teaching in academic conferences
  • Participation in resident and program evaluation activities
  • Faculty development with an emphasis in adult pedagogy
