General Surgery In-Depth Virtual Review Seminar

2020 ACOS In-depth Review Seminar

Launching April 22, 2020

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus), the 2020 IDR has moved from St. Louis, MO to a virtual format. For those of you who have registered for this year's IDR and Mock Orals, or are scheduled as a speaker, additional information will be sent to you directly about this change, and we will update this page with the latest information.

ACOS will launch the 2020 General Surgery In-Depth Review Seminar (IDR), April 22nd in a virtual format.

2020 IDR Program Chairs, Jessica L. Bartock, D.O., and Annika C. Storey, D.O., with the support of the In-Depth Review Committee, are diligently working on this year's content in an effort to once again deliver a top-notch, comprehensive educational program.

The IDR is our annual board review course. This customized ACOS Seminar is designed to provide the general surgeon with an in-depth review on topics found on certifications exams. Past participants have found it to be a helpful experience in preparing for certification or re-certification examinations**. In addition, attendees not preparing for board certification or re-certification may earn valuable CME credit. The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. Eligible attending physicians can earn American Osteopathic Association continuing medical education (CME) credit by participating in the educational programs and activities at the 2020 General Surgery In-depth Review Seminar. ACOS estimates that the AOA Council on Continuing Medical Education will approve this program for a maximum of 24.25 AOA Category 1-A CME credit hours.

Mock Oral Boards Workshop:
As noted above, this year's IDR will take place virtually. ACOS recognizes that the Mock Oral Boards workshop is a key component of the annual IDR, and we are working diligently to find a solution that will enable us to hold this workshop in a virtual format. We will notify participants as soon as an alternate format has been identified. We appreciate your patience as we work through the changing dynamics associated with COVID-19. The health and safety of our members, staff, attendees, and speakers is our number one priority.

**ACOS will not guarantee results on any certification or recertification exams

"I would like to thank the college for offering this recent well-structured In Depth Review for the recertification exam. Hopefully, this will be offered more frequently as it is a good comprehensive coverage of major topics. Glad to say I passed my exam on first attempt. Kudos to the ACOS IDR committee for a job well done!"
--Robert Edwards, D.O. Attendee, 2018 ACOS General Surgery In-Depth Review
