Eligibility

For fully licensed osteopathic and ACGME-trained surgeons who have completed an accredited surgical residency. 

  • Graduate of an AOA or LCME-accredited college of osteopathic medicine 
  • Completed an AOA or ACGME-accredited surgical residency 
  • Fully licensed to practice medicine in your state or jurisdiction 
  • U.S.-based practice

U.S. Military / Public Health Service members and Member Not Practicing (MNP) may join directly at their applicable rate — without the standard New Member rate. Dual membership rates are available after the first year. Contact Membership Services for details.

Your Path to Fellowship

Members who meet service criteria may apply for the FACOS designation after their first year.

New members join at the New Member rate of $311 in year one. If joining mid-year, dues are prorated by quarter. Beginning in year two, the standard Member rate of $627 applies at renewal.

Application Process

You’ve completed your training. You hold your license. ACOS is the community built for surgeons like you.

  1. Complete the Application — Download or request the New Member application. Complete all sections and follow the return instructions listed on the application.
  2. Submit Supporting Documentation — Required documentation is listed in the application. Gather and submit all items together with your completed application.
  3. Submit Dues Payment — Include prorated dues for the current quarter with your application. Payment instructions are included in the application form.
  4. Welcome to the College — Member ID, welcome package, and full benefit access upon approval — approx. 30–45 days.
